Close your eyes and point at the standings.
That may be the best way to predict an NDA senior boys basketball champion in 2013-14.
Like the varsity boys hockey league, parity is king in the district high school basketball loop, once dominated for more than a decade by the West Ferris Trojans, who won 11 titles over 12 seasons starting up until 2011.
Since then, the Algonquin Barons have captured an elusive NDA crown and the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears ended a lengthy drought as well during the abbreviated 2012-13 season.
Whoever succeeds the Bears this year is anyone's guess.
Take Algonquin for example. Tuesday, the Tomahawk tournament C-finalists handed the Trojans a 69-52 defeat, reeling off a 26-point fourth quarter as Riley Roy and Zach Villeneuve had 19 points apiece to counter Will Christian's 18-point outburst.
On Thursday, Algonquin was the first team to beat the Bears (4-1) this season, using a 20-8 third quarter run to pull off a 60-40 victory.
Then Friday, during the NDA showcase weekend at West Ferris Secondary School, the Barons (2-1) lost to the previously winless Franco-Cite Patriotes (1-3), who got 13 points from Miguel Plante and 10 from Alex Marleau.
